A note of gratitude as the year closes.
As we wrap up 2025, we’re sitting with genuine gratitude for the year that’s unfolded around us – though not without acknowledging the profound sorrow that has touched our Eastern Suburbs community this week – a sorrow that feels particularly close for those of us connected to these traditions and this place. Our hearts remain with those affected by Sunday’s tragedy at Bondi, and with all those grieving.
It’s been a remarkable year of transformation – spaces reimagined, projects brought to life, and most importantly, relationships deepened with each of you. Whether we’ve been designing your sanctuary, collaborating on a vision, or simply sharing in the creative process, you’ve made every project meaningful. In times like these, the work we do to create beautiful, nourishing spaces feels more important than ever.
We’re incredibly thankful for our talented builders, trades, suppliers, and most of all, our wonderful clients. Thank you for trusting us to create beautiful spaces that nourish and inspire. Your openness to our ideas, your generosity in collaboration, and your belief in what we do together has made 2025 truly rewarding.
As our studio continues to grow, we’re delighted to introduce two talented team members who have shaped much of our creative direction this year.
Victoria — Interior Designer
“I’m inspired by spaces that feel timeless and layered with warmth. For me, beautiful interiors start with listening closely to how people live.” – Victoria
Victoria brings a thoughtful, intuitive approach to every project she touches. Growing up in a creative household sparked her love for interiors early, and today she plays an integral role in shaping each design from the first client conversation through to completion. Her days are a blend of concept development, sourcing materials, collaborating closely with Marylou, and ensuring every detail reflects the studio’s timeless, layered aesthetic. Inspired by sculptural Mediterranean forms, natural stone, and soft neutral palettes, Victoria is driven by the joy of watching ideas evolve from mood boards into beautifully finished spaces — especially when clients walk in and feel instantly at home. She loves the boutique nature of the studio, the shared creativity, and the opportunity to work across all stages of a project, always balancing refined design with the personal warmth each client brings.
Nick — Interior Designer
“Concept design and detailing are where a project’s personality really takes shape. It’s incredibly rewarding to see those ideas evolve into a space that feels both functional and beautifully crafted.” – Nick
Nick brings a thoughtful, considered approach to every project, guiding designs from first ideas through to the smallest finishing touches. Drawn to interiors for their ability to shape emotion, well-being and daily life, he approaches each home by first understanding how clients truly live — their routines, comforts and the details that make a space feel personal. His style is grounded in natural materials, calm palettes and refined joinery, all layered with the warm, timeless aesthetic that defines the Marylou Sobel studio. Whether developing concepts, documenting intricate details or coordinating on-site, Nick values the collaborative nature of the team and the ability to create spaces that feel both functional and beautifully resolved.
And to extend our warmest thanks to Olivia, who is currently enjoying well-deserved maternity leave. Olivia’s creative fingerprints remain visible across many of this year’s most significant projects. Her collaborative spirit, keen eye for detail, and genuine care for each client have left a lasting mark on the studio’s work and culture. We’re grateful for her significant contributions throughout 2025 and look forward to welcoming her back when she’s ready.
As we head into the new year, we’re energised by what lies ahead. New projects are taking shape, fresh inspirations are emerging, and we can’t wait to create more beautiful moments with you.
For now, we’re taking a moment to rest, reflect, and recharge. We’ll be back in the studio with renewed energy in the new year.
Thank you for being part of the Marylou Sobel Interior Design story.
With warmth and gratitude,
Marylou.
