At Marylou Sobel Interior Design we offer a bespoke design service where our clients are the most integral part of the journey. Embedded in our ethos is a timeless aesthetic, with an emphasis on comfort, attention to detail, craftsmanship, luxury and soul. A curated aesthetic that evokes an emotional response.

WHO WE ARE

You can find Marylou Sobel and her team of passionate Interior Designers and Interior Architects at our intimate studio in Woollahra, Sydney. Marylou, an award-winning full-service designer, provides everything from design concepts to project management, collaborating with some of the nation’s leading furniture and cabinet makers, painters, flooring specialists, architects, landscape architects, builders, artisans and other professionals.

For forty years Marylou has refined, developed and perfected her own unique management and communication style/processes for a seamless interior design experience, and she is now mentoring a new generation of designers. Learn more about our Design Team.

HOW WE BEGAN

Marylou Sobel Interior Design began in Sydney in 1997 – after emigrating, leaving her position at the international design agency Head Interiors (Johannesburg), Marylou decided to go solo as an Interior Designer in Sydney. With a young family to consider, Marylou began designing exceptional interiors for clients from her home office/studio in Bellevue Hill. 

As Marylou Sobel established herself as one of Sydney’s leading designers of luxury interiors and affluent homes, more support was required and she employed her first team member. Marylou Sobel Interior Design opened the doors of the Woollahra studio in 2019, the perfect setting for design creativity and nurturing relationships. 

MSID can be considered a family business as Marylou’s daughter Stephanie (Associate Interior Architect) works alongside her and today the studio has a full-time team of talented designers, coordinated by Marylou, collaborating with homeowners across Australia, creating spaces that inspire. Marylou has designed multiple homes for some of our clients and often works with different generations of the same family.

OUR APPROACH

We approach each project with a unique perspective, listening and giving careful consideration to the context of the brief and taking the time to fully understand our clients. Beginning with the initial discussions and concept development, we form strong relationships, allowing our clients to trust the process and enjoy seeing their space come to life. It’s our personal approach that not only puts our clients at ease working with us but helps us to create our best work.
