THE WORLD’S BEST RESTAURANT INTERIOR DESIGNS: MY FAVOURITES TO INSPIRE YOUR LIVING AND DINING SPACES

Beautiful design can be found in many forms; not simply in architecture, but in fashion, food and nature. One of my favourite pastimes is enjoying all of these art forms together! Relaxing in the glory of a beautiful interior, alongside superb food is one of life’s absolute pleasures and something that I have been blessed to experience throughout my many travels across the globe. Here is a selection of my favourite dining rooms, which boast some of the world’s best restaurant interior designs; bon appétit!

SPRING, LONDON

This London restaurant has a warm, elegant feel with a soft, neutral palette interspersed by lush greenery. Spring is located in a beautiful restored 19th-century drawing room within Somerset House. I love the high ceilings and drama of the floor to ceiling arched windows.

THE CROSBY BAR, NEW YORK

This Lower Manhatten gem has an incredibly expansive feel with high ceilings, a long pewter bar, grey oak floors and tall warehouse-style windows which look out to the trees at the hotel’s entrance and garden. Designed by the talented Kit Kemp from the Firmdale Group, this is a beautifully appointed fit out.

BERNERS TAVERN, LONDON

Don’t let the humble name fool you. This establishment is so far from sticky floors, oversized pints and pub meals you’ll be wondering if you’re at the right place. I love how they’ve managed to keep the room feeling intimate amidst the grandeur of the crystal chandeliers, intricate ceiling and wall moldings and mid-century dining booths. Berners have won many awards for the world’s best restaurant interior design over the years.

BUDDHA BAR, PARIS

The team behind Buddha Bar have used red to perfection to create drama, intense warmth, fire and colour. I adore this luxe Asian Fusion masterpiece.

HAM YARD, LONDON

What a lovely use of texture, prints and colour at the Ham Yard. Modern, British colonialism on display here amidst different dining spaces and the drama of the main bar area.

THE IVY, LOS ANGELES

The interior of The Ivy is unexpected, but charming nonetheless with a country cottage feel, bold splashes of color everywhere you look, and masses of fresh flowers to add to the joy this space brings.

SOHO CLUB, ISTANBUL

The attention to detail in this stunning restaurant is unparalleled. I love how the regal green bar cladding and stools are framed by the warm golds, tawny timber and intricate flooring. Truly a deserving place on my list of the world’s best restaurant interior designs!

Stephanie Nadel

Assosciate Interior Architect

What makes Stephanie Nadel’s success story so remarkable is that she has come so far, so fast.
Stephanie, the Associate Interior Architect at Marylou Sobel Interior Design, has gained more experience, and handled more responsibilities in the past ten years than many other design professionals take on in their careers.

Stephanie, a multi-talented full service professional, carried out a wide variety of commercial and residential design tasks while she was based in London. She worked for three prominent interior design firms, as well as on her own, and served clients around the world.

In the process, she helped complete within 12 weeks the design and installation of a penthouse suite on The World, the luxury residential yacht that circumnavigates the globe. Prior to this Stephanie lead the full refurbishment of a lavish, Grade II listed, five bedroom home in the Hampstead Garden suburbs in London.

During her five years in London, she worked with Gensler, the world’s largest collaborative design, planning and consulting firm; MoreySmith, a leading design and architecture studio, and Fiona Barratt Interiors, an award-winning luxury design firm.

Assisting with projects for those firms, launching her own residential practice, and interacting with vendors worldwide provided her with project management, creative problem solving, sourcing, technical and other skills that benefit her clients today.

Stephanie earned her Bachelor of Interior Architecture degree at the University of New South Wales.

While she is adept in several aspects of design, she’s particularly interested in the challenge of refurbishing existing spaces. “I enjoy the problem solving that’s involved with existing buildings,” she says. “Although it is always a privilege to design alongside a team to create new and innovative structures, I love creating meaningful design from older properties and taking inspiration from heritage details.”
